After several years of being happily married Olka and Shai wanted to update their wedding rings from more generic to something more personal. They asked me to make rings that would represent bookshelves of their personal libraries – when they first met and realized how many books they had in common, they knew it was meant to be. Their favorite animals are also present in these rings: as letters on some of the book spines.
A customer asked me to make a silver ring with the quote from a poem by russian poet Olga Sedakova. I carved one line of this poem (“Come, I will show you what you have never seen before”) into the ring together with naive drawings of birds, fish, flowers etc.
I made this pair for Marina G who gave me her old gold and diamonds jewelry she wanted to recycle. As a result – miniature pair of gear-resembling earrings.
Customer who moved to Spain and found his passion in paella asked for a special ring he could wear while cooking this dish. The shape of the ring imitates the special paella frying pan.
This is a brooch that a customer ordered for his daughter’s 10th birthday based on one of her drawings. The character from the drawing is called Mr. Bubble, I recreated him from plastic, silver and steel. Notice, that Bubble’s eyes and mouth are not painted, but rather made in the plastic inlay technique I’ve been perfecting at the time.
Liza asked me to create a ring with the Star of David sign, but she wanted it to have some sort of a twist. As a result, I created a ring with an optical illusion: when you look at the ring from the side it’s just an abstract structure made of lines with rectangular profiles, but when you look from the top the lines come together into a shape of a star.
A woman asked me to create a pendant for her friend’s birthday. On one hand, she wanted thies pendant to incorporate her friend’s actual tooth that had been recently removed. On the other hand, she said her friend wasn’t punk enough to wear teeth as jewelry. So the task was to conceal the tooth. She said, her friend also loved geometric shapes and fishing – so as a result, I made a geometric fish-box that opens up, revealing the tooth pendant.
