Series
Steel, brass, silver, powder-coating, plastic,
2022

This small series called “Footnotes” was created specifically for an exhibition “Jewelry and Literature” organized by Tincal Lab in Porto, Portugal in 2022. As I have one degree in literature studies and one in jewelry design I felt that I couldn’t miss an opportunity to combine these two subjects. This small text-centered series that I wish to extend some day consists of three pieces: brooch, necklace and earrings.

“Raise High The Roof Beams, Carpenters” – blue brooch made of powder-coated brass. I also call it “Nine Stitches” brooch, as it features a sentence from J. Salinger’s short story that influenced me a lot as a teenager.

“It All Ends In Tears Anyway” – necklace made of powder-coated brass and steel on a plastic chain. Instead of containing a quote, like the previous piece, this one features a bibliographic link to the quote. And what’s the quote, you ask? It’s in the title, of course. Hint: the dangling blue tears on the bottom of the pendant.

“Denial” – pair of earrings made of silver and powder-coated brass. Two earrings contain a quote attributed (probably falsely) to Mark Twain: “Denial ain’t just a river in Egypt”.
